PROJECT REQUIREMENTS ROLES & CHECKLIST

DAY 1
ORGANIZE TEAMS & ROLES (Estimated
time 10 minutes)
Team members chosen (groups
of 4).
Discussed and decided on the roles that we will each
take for this project.
RESEARCH & INTERVIEW: (Estimated
time 45 minutes)
Visited the HolyName High
School Web Site and toured the site to get a sense of the look and feel of all
the pages.
The
School Store would be listed as a link.
It
is currently blank and waiting for your creative expertise!
Used my favorite search engine, searched
for and reviewed school store web sites.
Used the attached
worksheet to critically evaluate at least one of the school store web sites that I found on the internet.
Project Manager went to the School Store Attendant to
view the store.
Asked them what they would like to feature on the
school store web site, etc.
Discussed the results of the
evaluations and the interview with my team. We
looked at the sites we each reviewed
and drafted a proposal for the site we
want to create.
Our editor completed the proposal for
the site in a one page summary including
what we found out about good and bad
web design and our proposal for the
Holy Name Store Web Site, printed it
and passed it in at the end of DAY 1.
Can be
completed as homework and passed in
during the beginning of DAY 2.
DAY 2
NAVIGATION AND LAYOUT(Estimated
time 80 minutes)
Created a prototype of the design
for the website on paper or one of the forms of media listed on the web quest.
The
‘paper’ version organizes the content and describes the layout and navigation
for the site.
____ Researched
StoryBoarding and development of Navigation Bar.
____ We created a
standard navigation bar for each page.
____ We developed the
storyboard and either saved it on floppy or printed hard copy.
(the storyboard
can be used in the team PowerPoint presentation)
DAY 3 - 7
HTML CODING TEAM (3-5
days)
The Coding Team will be
responsible for coding the home page of the web site. It is essential that you communicate
and follow the agreed upon design as you discussed and included on the
storyboard.
All pages have the same look and feel.
The home page is named index.html and images are
placed in the /images folder.
(HINT:
One person can be coding while the other finds graphics and/or one person can
create the ‘dummy’ pages that will be placeholders for the pages yet to be
developed. Remember: You don’t have to
design all the pages. Just include the
navigation bar and maybe the color/design scheme). See next item.
Created a template of the home page. Saved it and
used it to create new pages
(TIP: share it with your team. This will allow the
team to put a consistent navigation bar on each page).
Copied all files to the same folder on classroom server.
Used my HTML cheat sheet and text
book for assistance in coding. Coded a draft of the pages and made sure they
each had the following characteristics:
____
Coded
all pages in table format
____ Created
a consistent, working navigation bar with hyperlinks (remember
people
need to be able to get there and back!)
____ For the home page, I used appropriate graphics and text
____ Created other hyperlinks as needed
____ Followed the guidelines from chapter 3 for directory
structure, filenames.
____ Used
consistent file naming conventions.
____ The look and feel is so consistent that it looks like only
one person created
it? (that’s the goal!)
DAY 3 - 7
GRAPHIC DESIGN & POWERPOINT TEAM
(Estimated time 3-5 days)
This team will be responsible
for taking pictures, gathering images for the web site, (creating icons and
animation is desired) as well as creating the template for the the PowerPoint presentation.
Make
sure you have completed the following:
![]()
Created a title slide with project name, team name,
team members and
their roles.
Created one slide with a summary of the (good) web
sites the team viewed during the research.
___ includes a
description of the design techniques the site used. Also describe why you or
your team member thought this was good design.
Created one slide with a summary of
the (bad) web sites that the team viewed during the research.
___
includes a description of the design techniques the site used. Also describe why you or your team
member thought this was bad design.
Storyboard slide with representation of your
layout/navigation
Created one slide with the team’s
proposal for the Holy Name Store Web Site.
Included a hyperlink to the site so
it can be demonstrate during the presentation.
Discussed as a group, plans for
presenting the material.
Printed the presentation as handouts 6 to a page,
attached it to the rubric with
our group name on it and passed it in by the deadline (at
the end of the class on DAY 8).
Checked the rubric to make sure everything was
complete.
Proofread my work and my team’s work.
